Eighth-grade Math Proficiency

In the eighth grade mathematics network, the team is reviewing strategies to dramatically increase the number of students who achieve proficiency in Algebra in their middle school or early high school years as a gateway to the advanced high school coursework that is the driver of high school graduation, college readiness, and post-secondary completionAs with the recently completed 3rd-grade and post-secondary network, this cross-functional group of leaders will review current data and research to understand the barriers students face and the existing strategies and initiatives that are demonstrating uncommon success. The goal is to identify a few key initiatives that business, philanthropy and our school districts can scale up to have a dramatic impact on student success in mathematics.

We believe this is a unique opportunity to sit down and discuss the barriers to mathematics success with our peers in school districts and key community partners along with business and philanthropy leaders.
